Born into a Welsh Farming community in Dinas, Pembrokeshire. Stan Jones studied at Trinity College, Carmarthen and at Cardiff College of Art. After completing his studies he moved on to teaching art, becoming Head of the Art Department in a school in Penarth, South Wales.

" I have been much influenced by Dylan Thomas and much of my work is based on his poetry. My early interests were in producing woodcuts and lino prints, but I now work primarily in watercolour, which is a perfect medium for capturing forms of nature, especially flowers and shrubs, remembered from early childhood".

Stan Jones is a past Chairman of the Watercolour Society of Wales (1973-92) and has work in several National Collections, the Arts Council of Wales, the University of Aberystwyth and Cardiff and private collections.
