Robert Alwyn Hughes A series of watercolours on one of the most famous sites of Ancient Europe - Paviland Cave Gower. A site of the ceremonial burial of the so called 'Red lady of Paviland' radio carbon dated to over 26,000 years ago. The 'dead' comprised of a male skeleton coloured in red ochre and not that of a woman as was first believed. The red ochre wasthought to have been sprinkled over the body as a ritual symbolic act.
