Chris Last studied at Swansea College of Art.
He is firmly a realist painter, attempting to depict accurately what is in front of him, mercifully not indoctrinated by modern-day art ideologies and waffle. He has painted professionally in both oil and watercolour for over 20 years exhibiting throughout Wales, England and now in one or two San Francisco galleries.
In this country he has shown and sold work with national stores, the National Trust and many galleries including The Federation of British Artists at the Mall Galleries, London. (Mainly with the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Watercolour Society). He has held over 16 one-man shows and has work in private collections worldwide and two public collections in the UK.
His love of the local Gower and Welsh land/seascape is evident in often highly detailed work, particularly watercolours. His oil paintings show a more loose, spontaneous style but both record an obvious and accomplished sympathy for figure work.
